Sub Lunch for Virginia Tech

The youth of Grace Memorial raised over $500 in donations by making sub sandwiches for the congregation on April 29, 2007. The money was given to the Episcopal campus ministry at Virginia Tech.

U2charist

The Lynchburg area Episcopal churches joined together in sponsering a U2charist featuring the music of U2 and a message from Bono on April 22, 2007. Food items were collected for local area food banks, and an offering was collected for Bread for the World. Participants signed a banner for the Virginia Tech community.

Grace Memorial performs outreach in different ways:
  1. We donate to our Diocese for their support and their outreach to the world.
  2. We donate time and funds to local organizations that support those in need:
    1. Volunteer at the Daily Bread which feeds the hungry.
    2. Provide meals at the Gateway which houses homeless men.
    3. Provide funds for wide range of needs:
      • Crisis line
      • After-prom parties
      • fuel assistance for the elderly
      • adult care
    4. We donate funds and perform fundraisers for Central VA orphanages.
  3. We bring communion and fellowship to shut-in members.
  4. We volunteer alongside other Timberlake churches to provide clothing for those in need and other activities.
  5. We support local non-profit organizations (Habitat for Humanity is one example).
  6. We provide a meeting place for AA (Alcoholic’s Anonymous).
Grace Church has recently made a commitment to make Outreach a priority. We are now looking into ways to support a national movement to eliminate hunger in the world.
